The Asian Youth Jazz Orchestra (AYJO), hailing from all over Asia such as Japan, Indonesia, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia, the young musicians had passed through grueling auditions in February 2015 to partake in the AYJO tour. Their non-stop intensive rehearsals paid off when the jazz musicians brought the house down at the Victoria Concert Hall on 30th September, 2015 attended by H.E. Ambassador Takeuchi and Madam Takeuchi.
Director and Conductor Osamu Matsumoto with his 28 jazz musicians of which a few have even composed original pieces treated the crowd to numbers of upbeat tempos. The opening started with Wild Man Blues composed by Jelly Roll Morton and arranged by Osamu Matsumoto and ended with a bang with the Directors original piece, Yesterday Among the Flow of Time following encore of the songs.
These energetic musicians had hit many countries around the region and are left with impressing Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Japan. The AYJO presented by the Japan Foundation Asia Centre wants nothing more than for these young jazz artists to perfect their craft and indeed they did that night. Almost 600 people in Singapore attended the night and gave countless rounds of applauses for the amazing performances.
Talents like these are treasures to Asia as they only develop furthering new musical possibilities, but also create an avenue for various nations to bring about friendly relations.
